Keith Tripler (@ktripler) is an avid a cappella fan and participant, currently a member of Syracuse University’s Orange Appeal (www.orangeappeal.net), he is the PR Director and website manager for the group. This past spring he was a co-coordinator of the Social Media and A Cappella Conference (SMACC) and hopes to continue being involved in the aca-world for many years to come.

The Sing Off – The NBC primetime a cappella competition is officially underway, now down to 12 groups remaining. Be sure to watch every Monday night at 8 p.m. EST. If you need to catch up, worry not! The full episodes are available both on Hulu and NBC’s website, in addition to many cool behind-the-scenes featurettes, sneak peeks and more. Competitions – There are many great competitions going on this months, as well as chances and deadlines to enter in future events. The Swingle Singers are looking to make a new music video for their upcoming single and need your help! The deadline for proposals and ideas in Oct. 7th, all are welcome to submit see their site for details. Attention Boston based a cappella groups (and others)! Bristol Studios is having an A Cappella Armageddon contest with prizes including 25 hours of studio time, $500 gift cards and more. The deadline is Oct. 28th for groups to register for $20. Last but not least, the deadline for groups to submit to compete at SOJAM is Oct. 7th and the lineup will be announced on the 9th. More to come on Sojam in next month’s Who’s Singing?...

CD ReleasesThe Red States just released a brand new single available on iTunes, “Price Tag” by Jessie J. Street Corner Symphony has debuted their first album UnPractice Makes Perfect, now available on iTunes. Boyz II Men’s new album Twenty hits iTunes and stores Oct. 25th in honor of twenty years as a group. Eclipse has posted samples of their new album to be released on November 1st, check them out on their Facebook page. In collegiate happenings, Syracuse University’s Orange Appeal plans on releasing their new album titled Keep You Guessing at their upcoming show on Oct. 29th.

Pros with Shows – Recently appearing on The Sing-Off, SONOS travels to Fremont Abbey, Seattle WA Oct. 8th continuing their fall tour. Naturally 7 travels to LA this October, check their website for details on their various shows. A cappella fans in Boston, be sure not to miss the Boston A Cappella Scene concert, October 12th featuring Ball in the House, Fermata Town and Rift at the YMCA of Cambridge.
