Who's Singing is a feature authored by Keith Tripler. Tripler (@ktripler) is an avid a cappella fan and participant, currently a member of Syracuse University’s Orange Appeal (www.orangeappeal.net), he is the PR Director and website manager for the group. This past spring he was a co-coordinator of the Social Media and A Cappella Conference (SMACC) (www.smacconference.com) and hopes to continue being involved in the aca-world for many years to come.

Voices Only 2011 – The annual competition for the best in collegiate a cappella recording postponed their results announcement and will now be announcing its winners on July 10th on the weekly a cappella podcast, Mouth Off. Voices Only has been producing and releasing these CDs every summer since 2004.

Vokal TotalVokal Total is an annual a cappella competition held in Graz, Austria that attracts groups from around the world. This is the competition’s 11th year, complete with big name judges and participants, 6,000 Euros in prize money, invites to perform at the Taiwan Choral Center, and high-end microphones courtesy of AKG. The competition is for Jazz, Classical, and Pop Ensembles, but there is a new category this year aptly titled “Emperor of the Mic” – a beatboxing battle held on the first night of the festival. This competition will be held July 25th – 27th , with the winners concert in Dom im Berg on the 28th. Best of all the competition will be broadcasted live on the festival site!

CD ReleasesThe Cornell Class Notes are offering unlimited free downloads of their 2007 album, Hint of Lime (CARA-nominated and 2008 RARB Honorable Mention) July 1st - 3rd. The Idea of North finished mastering their eighth album this past month, Extraordinary Tale, and it will be in stores at the end of July. MICappella has also been collaborating/working on their latest album with a cappella greats Ed Boyer and Bill Hare this past month, songs will debut at their next show (see below).

Pros with Shows – Boston-based group Ball in the House will be teaming up with The Sing Off’s NOTA and BU’s Dear Abbeys on July 17th in Morse Auditorium. The Hyannis Sound is celebrating the holiday in a big way with two July 4th Extravaganza! shows on the 1st in Hyannis and 4th in Falmouth, MA. On the West Coast, SONOS finishes their residency at the Hotel Café in LA on Wednesday July 6th at 8pm. On the International Circuit,MICappella from Singapore performs on July 15th at Esplanade in Singapore.
