Keith Tripler (@ktripler) is an avid a cappella fan and participant, currently a member of Syracuse University’s Orange Appeal, he is the PR Director and website manager for the group. This past spring he was a co-coordinator of the Social Media and A Cappella Conference (SMACC) and hopes to continue being involved in the aca-world for many years to come.

The Sing-Off – The NBC primetime a cappella show has finished for the season, crowning Pentatonix as champions with a Sony Music Recording Contract and $200,000. They have already begun touring and doing shows landing their biggest gig yet at the Los Angeles A Cappella Festival (LAAF. They will be performing with fellow competitors Delilah and The University of Rochester Yellowjackets on Dec. 11th in at 3:00 p.m. at the Eastman Theatre in Rochester, and, because tickets for that show sold out so quickly, will perform a second time at 7:00 p.m. on the same day, at the same location. Competitions/Festivals – The deadline to submit to compete at the Los Angeles A Cappella Festival Friday night scholastic competition is fast approaching! Group submissions close at 11:59 pm on December 15th . The top group wins priority seating for shows, masterclasses with the pros, featurettes on CASA.com and Mouth Off, opens for the professional showcase, and more for the runners up as well! Be sure to check out the details here.

CD Releases – It’s that time of year again! A favorite genre of a cappella singers, this year’s holiday albums are in full swing! The jazz quartet of Cadence has released its album already, entitled Cool Yule. The Swingle Singers have also released their new holiday album, Yule Songs compiled of original songs by the members as well as traditional classics. In other CD happenings, The Backbeats released their self-titled debut album, The Backbeats. The Rescues are in the midst of recording an album and are calling for any and all singers to contribute to their recording of “My Heart With You” check it out here. Postyr releasesd their new single "I Can't Sleep" in late November and the song is available to download for free here. Collegiate groups are at it as well. The USC Cocktails released their album, Another Round, produced by The Vocal Company, on the 1st of December. In addition the Wash U. Stereotypes released their studio album, Tongue Tied, this past weekend.
