Tidbits from the midwest, including Acappallooza and Chapter 6
Some quick bits of news headed into the weekend...
-2009 marks the first year for The University of Illinois at Chicago's Acappallooza. This event is being cohosted by Downtown Voices and Lake Affects, UIC's newest a cappella group and UIC's vocal jazz ensemble, respectively. Acappallooza will take place April 26th in UIC's Student Center West from 3-5pm. This showcase event will bring together numerous collegiate a cappella groups to heighten awareness about the ensembles and the musical genre as a whole. The even will also include Lewis University Harmonic Uprising, DePaul DMaC and The Techtonics and Crown Joules from the Illinois Institute of Technology. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic.
-Professional a cappella group Chapter 6 will be performing at the Stevens Center in Winston-Salem, NC on April 9 at 7:30 PM.
Tickets are available at the group rate just for mentioning that you are part
of an a cappella group when you call to order your tickets. Group rate tickets are available for $15 in orchestra level and $12 in the balcony.
