A cappella group presents scholarship, December shows
-The University of Rochester's all-male powerhouse, The Midnight Ramblers have started a new scholarship, through which, each year they will award $5,000 to an incoming freshman with "an appreciation and passion for music innovation." Read more about it here.
-There are plenty of holiday/end of the year/end of semester collegiate a cappella shows going on across the country in the days ahead. A small sampling:
-Tomorrow night, Thursday, December 4, at 10:00 p.m. the a cappella groups of Syracuse University will come together for the semesterly A Cappella After Hours show, featuring Orange Appeal, The Mandarins, Groovestand and Main Squeeze.
-In addition, tomorrow night, Thursday, December 4, is the night for Florida State University's All-Night Yahtzee Winter Concert at 8:30 p.m.
-The University of Oregon's Divisi and On the Rocks will join forces for a show entitled "Tie One on For the Holidays!" this Saturday, December 6, at 7:30 p.m.
-Texas A&M's Apotheosis will also be performing this Saturday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m. in their Winter Extravaganza show.
-Appalachian State University in Boone, NC will be the site of Acappellageddon, featuring the Extension Chords, What's yer Pleasure, Higher Ground, Ear Candy, Treble Attractions, Assorted Chocolates and Another Level, as well as professional group Return 2 Zero. This will occur Tuesday, December 9, at 6:30 p.m.
-Brigham Young University's celebrated a cappella program will present a memorable show on Wednesday, December 10, at 7:00 p.m., featuring recent ICCA international champions Vocal Point and Noteworthy.
-Speaking of recent ICCA champions, the USC SoCal VoCals will be putting on their annual Holiday Concert Saturday, December 13, at 8:00 p.m.
