Fork
Amidst the a cappella scene within our own borders it's easy to lose sight of what's going on around the world. In International Spotlight we introduce readers to groups that are making noise (not to mention incredible music) in foreign lands.
On occasion, the heart of innovation is not consciously trying to break new ground, but just not knowing what’s been done and trying something wholly original. Such is the story of Fork, an a cappella group composed of four friends from Finland who started singing together in the late 1990s. The foursome developed a sound uniquely their own and have developed an international following of fans over the course of their years together. The group has released three albums to date, in addition to Pink Noise: The Saga, a “rockumentary” which holds the unique distinction of being aired on national TV every year on New Year’s Day. American a cappella fans will have a chance to hear Fork live this November at SoJam.
