The Exhilaration of Getting Into A Group
For the uninitiated, it can be difficult to understand why people love a cappella. Heck, even for those of us who do actively enjoy it, it can be difficult to put into words why we enjoy this art form so. While we’ll never have a truly comprehensive list of everything cool about a cappella, 200 Reasons to Love A Cappella is our best attempt at assembling a list of what makes it great.
Reason #81: The Exhilaration of Getting Into A Group
Being a part of a group lends most of us a very good feeling—a sense of belonging, of community, of shared purpose. The one thing that may be sweeter than existing as part of a group, though, is one’s entry into a group.
As exciting as the audition process can be, for most of us, it’s also a source of trepidation. Are we as good as we thought? Do we belong. When a singer is accepted into an a cappella group it’s an affirmation of that musician’s talents in addition to being an entry point to a new circle of friends—a point of celebration before all of the work begins.
I love it!
