Recaling Old Favorites
For the uninitiated, it can be difficult to understand why people love a cappella. Heck, even for those of us who do actively enjoy it, it can be difficult to put into words why we enjoy this art form so. While we’ll never have a truly comprehensive list of everything cool about a cappella, 200 Reasons to Love A Cappella is our best attempt at assembling a list of what makes it great.
Reason #22: Recalling Old Favorites
I remember attending an ICCA show a couple years back when a group opened its set with Sister Hazel’s “It’s All For You.” It had been years since I had last thought of this song; a decade since it had been popular. Some might say the song’s no longer relevant and the group should have performed something more contemporary. I, however, subscribe to the theory that a great song is a great song, regardless of how old it might be. Hearing an old favorite takes you back to another time in your mind. It’s a fun journey through time, and while there’s nothing quite like hearing song for the first time, hearing a good group revive an old favorite is pretty darn sweet.
I love it!
