Random Appearances in Major Media
For the uninitiated, it can be difficult to understand why people love a cappella. Heck, even for those of us who do actively enjoy it, it can be difficult to put into words why we enjoy this art form so. While we’ll never have a truly comprehensive list of everything cool about a cappella, 200 Reasons to Love A Cappella is our best attempt at assembling a list of what makes it great.
Reason #27: Random Appearances in Major Media
Just about everyone has their lesser-known, or less popular areas of passion. I’d call them guilty pleasures, but, well, despite a cappella not exactly being a part of the mainstream, I don’t think there’s any reason to feel guilty about liking it.
Enough digressions—when you see your non-mainstream passion get a mention in the mainstream news, have an appearance on network TV, or get a spot in a major motion picture, it’s just cool. It’s like seeing your friend make a cameo in such a setting—a suggestion that that person has made it big, and that the rest of the world is getting a glimpse out how great it is.
For us a cappella enthusiasts, the past few years have given us some great moments, from appearances on TV shows like The Office, Scrubs and Psych to movies like The Break Up and Step Brothers.
I love it!
