New Leadership
For the uninitiated, it can be difficult to understand why people love a cappella. Heck, even for those of us who do actively enjoy it, it can be difficult to put into words why we enjoy this art form so. While we’ll never have a truly comprehensive list of everything cool about a cappella, 200 Reasons to Love A Cappella is our best attempt at assembling a list of what makes it great.
Reason #64: New Leadership
Plenty of groups thrive on tradition, carrying on a signature style and reputation for excellence that the group has developed for itself over a period of years, if not decades. Continuity is a special thing, but there’s also something to be said for a group taking a new direction.
Sometimes it’s the transition to a chiller attitude after the reign of a dictator. Sometimes it’s the move from someone with a vision to take the group national via YouTube and competition after years of keeping it local. Sometimes it’s broadening the scheme of what a group is arranging and recording. While change isn’t always good, it often can mark an exciting period of reinvention and transformation.
I love it!
