Medleys
For the uninitiated, it can be difficult to understand why people love a cappella. Heck, even for those of us who do actively enjoy it, it can be difficult to put into words why we enjoy this art form so. While we’ll never have a truly comprehensive list of everything cool about a cappella, 200 Reasons to Love A Cappella is our best attempt at assembling a list of what makes it great.
Reason #21: Medleys
We’ve all been there. We’re digging on a group’s groove as they rock a well-known tune. And then, as the first chorus come to an end, or when they think they’re wrapping up a Cliff’s Notes version of the song, all of a sudden, they launch into something more.. It’s “Like A Prayer” into “Material Girl” or “Livin’ on a Prayer” into “You Give Love A Bad Name” into “It’s My Life.” Or sometimes it’s not based around an artist or band, but rather a common time period or theme, like Fermata Nowhere’s 2009 “Heartless Medley.” Whatever the case, it’s 3 or 4 songs for the cost of one. It’s surprising, fresh and entertaining. All considered, it’s pretty awesome.
I love it!
