Good Old A Cappella
For the uninitiated, it can be difficult to understand why people love a cappella. Heck, even for those of us who do actively enjoy it, it can be difficult to put into words why we enjoy this art form so. While we’ll never have a truly comprehensive list of everything cool about a cappella, 200 Reasons to Love A Cappella is our best attempt at assembling a list of what makes it great.
Reason #53: Good Old A Cappella
They’re singin’ that good old a cappella and it sounds so sweet…
I must confess, long before I became an a cappella fan in earnest, I became a fan of this standard, as performed by the Boston College Heightsmen. I caught the sound of the rich harmonies, the smooth solo, and, of course, the celebration of a cappella in and of itself.
This classic song remains an a cappella go-to piece—the purest representation of the form itself that combines old school sensibilities with the timeless message of how music—and particularly a cappella—bonds people together.
I love it!
