Fans with T-shirts
For the uninitiated, it can be difficult to understand why people love a cappella. Heck, even for those of us who do actively enjoy it, it can be difficult to put into words why we enjoy this art form so. While we’ll never have a truly comprehensive list of everything cool about a cappella, 200 Reasons to Love A Cappella is our best attempt at assembling a list of what makes it great.
Reason #38: Fans with T-shirts
If there’s an immediate way of telling the die hard a cappella fans from the casual ones, or a big show from a minor one, it would have to be the t-shirts.
Be they homemade with puff paint and markers, screen-printed or a result of some more coordinated effort, a cappella fans in a cappella t-shirts are telling everyone who can see them that they don’t have any shame about supporting the a cappella group they came to see, and that they are taking this show every bit as seriously as a major sporting event or serious concert. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen more shirts than at the ICCA Mid-Atlantic Semifinals or ICCA Finals—a demonstration of the commitment of these fans, and the importance of those events.
I love it!
