200 Reasons To Love A Cappella

For the uninitiated, it can be difficult to understand why people love a cappella. Heck, even for those of us who do actively enjoy it, it can be difficult to put into words why we enjoy this art form so. While we’ll never have a truly comprehensive list of everything cool about a cappella, 200 Reasons to Love A Cappella is our best attempt at assembling a list of what makes it great.

Reason #28: American Pie (the movie)

I’m dating myself a little here, but when I was in high school, there was no movie cooler than American Pie. Sexually charged, outrageously funny, and boldly willing to take on every taboo topic that we were, in reality, joking about anyway, the movie truly struck a chord with a particular generation.

One of the subplots of the film was Chris Klein’s courtship of choir girl Mena Suvari, for which he goes so far as to join her a cappella group. It’s as silly as you might expect, and not particularly realistic. But with all of that being said, I like to think that the movie does represent what can happen when you give a cappella a shot. Sure, it seems dorky in the beginning, but when you immerse yourself in it and let your inhibitions go, you’re likely discover it’s pretty cool in its own right.

I love it!
