Newsline

The wait is over. Welcome to The A Cappella Blog’s 2011 publication season!

Like years past ,we’ll be bringing you ICCA event reviews, opinion pieces, videos, and the latest news. We’re excited to bring on the second annual ACB ICCA Bracket Contest. In addition to all of this, keep an eye out for these new features:

Statistical Findings: In the fall of 2010, The A Cappella Blog invited every collegiate a cappella group we could find to participate in a survey. Our objective was to develop a better understanding of current trends in a cappella—what groups are or are not doing and to what degree.

Over 300 groups from across the US and abroad responded to the survey. Throughout our 2010 publication season, we will share results from this survey and talk about what our findings mean. We welcome and encourage groups to look over the information to learn, to benchmark and to satisfy their own curiosity.

Absurdist A Cappella: The world of collegiate a cappella is quirky, fun, and a little out there. In celebration of these qualities, we take a look at ways of making a cappella even more unique, outlandish, and—well—absurd.

In addition to all of this, The ACB is continuing to do its part to make sure that a cappella, and, indeed, music in general, lives on. Through a partnership with VH1’s Save The Music Foundation, we will be selling wristbands all season long, with all profits supporting music education programs.

Here at The ACB, we are incredibly excited to launch our fifth publication season. So fasten your seatbelts, add us to your bookmarks or RSS feeds, and get ready for one heck of a ride!
