-Liquid 5th has announced a brand new a cappella festival for next month--The Amplify Providence A Cappella Festival. It will occur February 10 and 11 at Brown University. According to organizers, "The event is a public a cappella festival that is geared toward spreading and teaching the art form. The hope is that this event will be the catalyst for a non-profit organization that will give back to the a cappella community, much as CASA has, but one that focuses on a couple different niches. One program in particular that we hope to establish is to provide grants for groups to cover all of the licensing fees for albums, an often overlooked yet expensive part of the process. Another idea is to give scholarships to graduating high school seniors that have participated in a cappella in high school and wish to continue doing so in college." The festival is already scheduled to play host to pro groups Transit, Duwende, and the Red States, in addition to Brown's host groups, The 18 Wheelers and The Jabberwocks. You can learn much more about the festival and register here.
