Interviews

In honor of the 2017 ICCA tournament, The A Cappella Blog pursued short interviews with competing groups to develop insights into why and how groups approach competition, and to get appropriately excited for the tremendous shows ahead of us.

What’s your group name and on what date is your group’s quarterfinal?

We are the Drexel TrebleMakers and our quarterfinal is on January 28th, 2017.

How long has your group been around? Have you competed before?

Our group has been around since 2004 and yes, we have competed before!

Why are you competing this year? What does your group hope to accomplish or get out of the experience?

We are competing this year to get more competition experience, meet other acappella groups and go for the win! We hope to learn more about performing in front of a large audience as well as make friends with other people that love acappella just as much as we do.

How is your group preparing for competition?

We are practicing three times a week for two hours each to get our music down. We also have a four hour practice once a week for choreography.

If you were to describe your group, or the set your group is planning for competition with just three words, what would they be?

Powerful, Emotional, and Unexpected.
