The Competition

Dos and Don'ts

DON'T: Ignore the competition.

DO: Learn from the competition.

There is an old cliche that goes "two heads are better than one." The more people that are involved in a situation, the more perspectives and ideas you can expect to get on the table. When it comes to collegiate a cappella, there are times when several groups perform the same song, each in their own style, adding their own flare and flavor to their performance. The fact is, some groups are just more entertaining than others -- either because of arrangement, vocals, choreography, or a combination of the three. That's why every group should be aware of their competition and learn what works and what doesn't. It will give yours an advantage and perhaps new avenues to look down for future competitions.
