Interviews
Rpi Partial Credit

In honor of the 2017 ICCA tournament, The A Cappella Blog pursued short interviews with competing groups to develop insights into why and how groups approach competition, and to get appropriately excited for the tremendous shows ahead of us.

What’s your group name and on what date is your group’s quarterfinal?

We're Partial Credit A Cappella from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Our quarterfinal is on February 25 at EMPAC (RPI's Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center).

How long has your group been around? Have you competed before?

Partial Credit is 13 years old - we were founded in 2003, and first competed at ICCA in 2007. We won Best Arrangement awards in 2015 and 2016, and last year placed 4th in our quarterfinal.

Why are you competing this year? What does your group hope to accomplish or get out of the experience?

It's an awesome experience to be able to perform with so many other great groups, and receiving feedback for our performance helps us to better our craft.  We're hoping to place well and get some great advice on how to improve our performances!

How is your group preparing for competition?

We'll be dedicating most January/February rehearsals towards preparing for our set, as well as working on choreo during winter break.

If you were to describe your group, or the set your group is planning for competition with just three words, what would they be?

Our current dynamic
