Interviews

In honor of the 2016 ICCA tournament, The A Cappella Blog pursued short interviews with competing groups to develop insights into why and how groups approach competition, and to get appropriately excited for the tremendous shows ahead of us.

What’s your group name and on what date is your group’s quarterfinal?

Unexpected Resolution. February 11, 2017 at Ball State University

How long has your group been around? Have you competed before?

We’ve been around for three full school years, and this is our third time competing at a quarterfinal competition.

Why are you competing this year? What does your group hope to accomplish or get out of the experience?

We are competing because it is a good way for us to make sure that we continue to improve each year! We hope to show the improvements that we have been working on since last year.

How is your group preparing for competition?

We rehearse two to three times a week.

If you were to describe your group, or the set your group is planning for competition with just three words, what would they be?

We do anything and everything that sounds good a cappella! We’ve done barbershop, vocal jazz, pop, musical theatre, and more!
